July General Meeting – Sid Mann- Old Time Maine Logging Video

There were 23 members in attendance at the meeting and three guests (Mike Dummett, James Bassett, Steve Christoffells) for a total of 26 people in attendance.

This evening’s presentation was by Sid Mann. He showed a movie from the 1930s, about logging in Maine, called “From Stump to Ship.” The film was originally a silent film narrated by the president of the Machinist Lumber Company, Alfred Ames. In this reconstruction of the original film a narrator speaks the words Ames used when he showed the silent film. It is the most complete film record of long lumbering operations of that era known to exist today.

If you missed the meeting and would like to see the video ( everybody was fascinated) it is on Youtube. Pick this link to watch it:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIKCjQdxtO0
