Ok, easy enough to figure that something is going to be round at a turner’s meet, but this project keeps part of the square part and transitions to round. Denny had two projects partially complete to better illustrate the process while leaving out some of the more lengthy turning. The photo below shows Denny’s steady rest sized to fit his lathe and adjustable to fit the project.
Yes, those are wheels from skates to steady the work. It seems they have just enough give in them to hold the work and not mar it. Here is another shot below.
